It’s no secret that tests and textbooks might not be the best way to teach a class of energetic students. Educators are on the hunt for a better way, including the team at NYSCI (the New York Hall of Science). Funded by a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, we partnered with NYSCI to get science and math out of the classroom and empower students to take learning into their own hands.
Funded by a grant from the Melinda and Bill Gates Foundation, Local Projects partnered with the New York Hall of Science and Enharmonic to develop Noticing Tools, apps that help students to learn science and math in an interactive format. Playground Physics uses the iPad's robust set of sensors. Students track their own motion and velocity, showing them how fundamental principles of physics are at work when they play. Other apps explore proportions, fractions, three-dimensional modeling and more.
As Interactive Project Manager, I worked with teams specializing in Content Development, Mobile App Development, User Research, Art Direction and Graphic Design, and Interaction Design.
